About TechNest Community
We are a nonprofit making technology accessible, creative, and impactful.
Based in Newfoundland, we create opportunities for youth, newcomers, and communities to learn, connect, and innovate. Through our programs, events, and products, we have built a growing community that bridges local impact with global reach — from mentorship and children's programs to creative networking events and product innovation. TechNest is where technology meets people.
What we do
TechNest Community focuses on four pillars.
🎓 Mentorship Program
Connecting learners with mentors. Our mentorship program pairs learners with industry professionals to guide them in their tech journey. Powered by an eLearning platform, participants get structured resources plus real-world guidance.
Goal. Build skills, confidence, and career readiness for youth, students, and newcomers.
The 2026 cohort runs the Artificial Intelligence track — an 8-week prompt-first AI engineering curriculum followed by a 4-week team capstone. See the Curriculum Outline for the full plan.
🎉 Creative Connections
Networking, the fun way. We turn networking into experiences that are creative, inclusive, and exciting.
- Tech in the Park — 100+ people connecting with companies outdoors.
- Sip & Paint — mixing art, conversations, and tech (happening soon).
- More events coming throughout 2026.
🚀 Product Development
Turning ideas into impact. At TechNest we build products that solve real community challenges:
- Library Labs — an AI-powered 3D learning platform that makes complex subjects simple, fun, and engaging.
Our products are designed to improve lives while driving innovation in Newfoundland.
👧 Tech for Children
Inspiring the next generation of creators. In partnership with NCANL, this program introduces kids to the world of tech. Activities include coding, robotics, and digital design — making learning interactive and exciting.
Mission. Spark curiosity early and show children that tech is for everyone.
Why this curriculum
The 2026 mentorship cohort is built on a single doctrine: natural language is the source code.
Students arrive having only used ChatGPT on the web. By Week 8 they own a live, polished, AI-powered personal website that doubles as their portfolio, AI-clone chatbot, guestbook, blog, contact funnel, and the source-of-truth for their auto-generated CV and cover letter — all driven through prompts to Cursor, Claude Code, and Gemini CLI.
By the end of the 12-week track, every student has shipped a multi-user AI product that strangers could use.
